About Joshua G. Kong, MD
Dr. Kong is a fellowship-trained hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) and general surgeon skilled in minimally invasive (MIS) procedures. He received his Undergraduate degree and Master’s in Immunology (asthma and peanut allergy) from McMaster University – Ontario, Canada. He then obtained his MD degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine – Detroit, where he stayed for his residency training in general surgery. He then completed his HPB fellowship locally at Methodist Richardson Medical Center and was hired on as faculty. He specializes in both malignant and benign diseases of the liver, gallbladder, bile duct, pancreas, esophagus, stomach, and gastrointestinal tract. He is also experienced in robotic surgeries and complex hernia repairs.
Dr. Kong is passionate about research and education. He is an assistant professor at TCU Burnett School of Medicine and a clinical faculty member for the MIS/complex GI and HPB fellowships, and general surgery residency at Methodist Richardson Medical Center.
Dr. Kong is fluent in Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese). In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and dog, cooking, and golfing.
