About Avery L. Nolen, MD
Avery Nolen, MD, is a board-certified family medicine doctor at Methodist Family Health Center – Mansfield North. He specializes in treating patients with chronic (long-term and ongoing) conditions and acute (short-term) illnesses, with a particular interest in diabetes and hypertension (high blood pressure).
In his practice, Dr. Nolen helps his patients by asking questions and encouraging them to do the same. He focuses on understanding his patients’ concerns and what they’ve done to address those concerns so that he can provide effective personalized recommendations.
Dr. Nolen takes his time during appointments to listen to his patients and their experiences with health, lifestyle and everyday issues that could affect their wellness. He emphasizes this two-way conversation as the best way to support his patients’ health. His patients appreciate his down-to-earth approach, empathetic listening and genuine concern.
Dr. Nolen’s compassion and desire to help other people arose from the experience of losing his brother and sister at a young age. From that point forward, Dr. Nolen decided that becoming a physician was the best way to help others.
Dr. Nolen has volunteered his time to work at free medical clinics. He is also a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Association.
When he is not seeing patients, Dr. Nolen enjoys working out, listening to music and podcasts and spending time with his family.
