Ammar Al Akshar, MD, is a highly skilled interventional cardiologist with board certifications in Internal Medicine, General Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Adult Echocardiography, and Nuclear Cardiology. He excels in the treatment of coronary artery disease and complex percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), with a strong focus on advanced revascularization strategies. He also specializes in preventive cardiology, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and cardiac imaging, including echocardiography and transesophageal echocardiography.
Dr. Al Akshar earned his medical degree from the Misr University for Science and Technology: College of Medicine in 6th of October City, Egypt. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune City, New Jersey, followed by rigorous fellowship training in General and Interventional Cardiology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Dedicated to pushing the boundaries of interventional cardiology, Dr. Al Akshar is an expert in intracoronary imaging and complex PCI techniques. These include chronic total occlusion (CTO) interventions, bifurcation stenting, and high-risk percutaneous procedures such as atherectomies and mechanical left ventricular support. Additionally, he emphasizes preventive cardiology to reduce cardiovascular risk and optimize long-term heart health through tailored treatment plans and lifestyle interventions.
